There is one true God over us all. He’s created us all. He sustains us all. The reason we are breathing right now is because He is giving us breathe. Were He to stop, so would we. And we have all sinned against God.
Everyone of us has turned in our ways, from His ways to our own ways. Looks different in all our lives but we have all sinned against God. As a result, we are all separated from God. And if we die in this state of separation from God, then we will spend eternity separated from God.
All the religion of the world will give you all kinds of recipes for how to get back to God – do these things, take these steps, pray these amount of times, follow this rituals (whatever it might be) but the good news of the Bible is that we don’t have to earn our way to God because God has to come to us.
God has to come to us in the Person of Jesus. Jesus has lived a life none of us could live – a life of perfect obedience to God. He had no sin in His life for which to die and yet He chose to die. If He didn’t die for His sin, whose sin was He dying for? Jesus chose to die for your sin. Jesus chose pay for my sin and your sin against God.
And it keeps getting better. Jesus didn’t stay dead for long. Jesus, three days later, rose from the dead in victory over sins so that anyone, anywhere who puts their faith in Jesus, ask God to forgive you of your sins through trust in His love for you, you will be forgiven of all your sin and reconciled in to a relationship with God for all eternity.
It’s the greatest news in the world. Your life can change forever, today. Because of the good news of the Kingdom of God. The King has come to save us from our sins.
The most important relationship for every one of us is our relationship with Jesus Christ. Choosing to believe that he is who he claimed to be—the Son of God and the only way to salvation—and receiving him by faith as your Lord and Savior is the most vital act anyone will ever do. We want life. He is Life. We need cleansing. He is the Living Water.
Here is a simple prayer if you have not yet given your life to Jesus and invited him into yours:
Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God, that you died on the cross to rescue me from sin and death and to restore me to the Father.
I choose now to turn from my sins, my self-centeredness, and every part of my life that does not please you. I choose you. I give myself to you.
I receive your forgiveness and ask you to take your rightful place in my life as my Savior and Lord.
Come reign in my heart, fill me with your love and your life, and help me to become a person who is truly loving—a person like you.
Restore me, Jesus. Live in me. Love through me. Thank you, God. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
