Let me ask you these –
Do you ever feel like you are living on the sidelines of your own life while you watch others do life better and live a fuller, more engaged version of themselves?
ARE YOU –
- Afraid to take that next step?
- Afraid to admit, even to yourself, (much less to anyone else) that something might just be missing?
DO YOU –
- Live in fear and settle for less than?
- Struggle in procrastination?
- Feel stuck and yearns for a change but aren’t sure just how to find your next right step?
- Feel insecure and trapped in comparison?
- You’ve spent so much time taking care of the people around you that you’ve lost yourself in the process.
- Maybe you’re ready for a change but scared of taking that very first step afraid of making a mistake.
- Maybe you’re not even sure what it is that you want, you just know that where you are at right now doesn’t feel like quite enough.
- It’s time for you to make the necessary endings yet you are afraid to make it.
We live in a culture that has set us up to put our best face forward. A culture that deceives us into believing that the better we appear, the better we are. But just because we seem to have it together on the outside doesn’t mean that we have it together on the inside. Just because we’re Christian doesn’t mean we’re healthy. (Fileta, 2021)
If any of this sounds like you, I’m here to tell you that you’re in the right place. And there is help.
Hey there! MY NAME IS Emmylou 😄
People often settle and live below or outside their God-given giftedness, are fragmented, and try-hard false versions of themselves.
Walking with Jesus Christ into their lives, I help disentangle the human experience and dismantle the broken and false narratives they carry.
I do this because I strongly believe that a better, more engaged life in Christ is possible right here, right now. Think about it, our life with God is not just about what happens when we die; our life with God starts now.
HOW I CAN HELP YOU
Our life with God is not just about what happens when we die. Our life with God starts now.
Sadly, most people don’t know it because they believe the lies they tell themselves. Because of these lies, they settle for less, make excuses, are stuck and unsure how to find their next right step, and remain trapped in comparison.
They continue to live their own lives feeding the insecurities of other people and as try-hard versions of their false selves always pleasing and meeting people’s expectations.
I listen to your story minus the judgment – my job is not to judge, but to help – in which you feel safe to expose the false version of yourself and the false stories you carry, help you confront the lies in your mind, and replace those lies with the Truth, and help you discover your God-given giftedness so you can confidently take your next right step.
I do this because I strongly believe that a better, more engaged life in Christ is possible right here, right now. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again – our life with God is not just about what happens when we die; our life with God starts now.
CAN I HELP YOU?
I don’t know where you are today as you read this.
Maybe you want to do something more but you’re not sure what the restlessness is.
Maybe you have your idea, but you feel stuck and you don’t know what it is.
Maybe you’ve been in business or have been working for so long and you lost your momentum and on the verge of burnout.
Wherever you are, I want you to know that I am here for you. I am not an ivory tower theorist, but a real, in the trenches of life practitioner.
We’ve created an unspoken rule in church and Christianese circles where we falsely assume that becoming a Christian fixes everything. Maybe we don’t actually say those words out loud, but we believe or at least assumed we’re going to have it together emotionally, spiritually, and mentally just because we’re walking with the Lord.
Yet we don’t think that way about our physical bodies, do we? We don’t assume that just because we come to Jesus, all of a sudden we’re going to have just the normal blood pressure, the right body mass index, or healthy skin. Pastor Levi Lusko of Fresh Life Church said “We don’t get a 6-pack when we get saved or biceps when we get baptized.”
We don’t make this assumption with our physical bodies, we actually work to make our physical bodies healthy. But how come, we make assumptions like this with our mental and emotional health? Why do we not educate ourselves and set to make progress from the inside out? We severely neglect taking inventory of what is actually going on inside us.
Perhaps, we’re too afraid we will not like what we see inside when we take a closer look. Just like some people are afraid to get diagnosed, they skip going to the doctor until it’s too late, we can be too afraid to face even ourselves.
But I want you to know that you can do this. With Christ + His Word, a safe community, and investment in soul care such as therapy and counseling you can disentangle your experience. If you are willing, you can accomplish the hard things of finding freedom from shame, being delivered from trauma, and rediscovering your true identity so you can experience fullness and fruitfulness right here, right now, in Christ Jesus.
How long will you struggle inside while maintaining a facade that everything is okay?
How long can you keep the picture-perfect everything is fine appearance when you know deep within yourself everything is not, or at least there’s part of you that’s not?
How long will you pretend that your relationship with your family or spouse is healthy without acknowledging the struggles and flaws of the relationship?
How long can you keep it until you cry out for help?
Don’t wait until it’s too late.
We don’t grow in the dark. Growth happens in the light. I’m challenging you to come out of hiding, to shed secrets, to step beyond shame, and to stand in the light of truth. Why go to therapy? Because it’s divine work and when you are emotionally healthy, you are more powerful spiritually. (Philipps, 2021)
